Senior Grad Cards - Get the scoop!

Custom graduation announcements and invitations are a big thing around here, so I thought I would address some of the most frequent questions I get about how it all works.

Q: What are the available choices for Grad Cards?

A: These days, most seniors and their families skip the formal school announcement and get something more custom, something that reflects their style and personality.  There are dozens of sizes and shapes, and even more different ways to design them: you can get them as a flat card, folded, as a trifold, and then add on the extras such as foil lettering, upgraded paper, matching envelopes, address labels, etc.

I try to make it as simple as possible by bundling the add-ons.  My basic grad card is a 5x7 flat card and it already includes two upgrades - velvet matte paper (you have to see/feel this paper to understand what the fuss is about) and foil lettering on the front. 

Q:  What if we don't want a flat card?

A:  The most popular card I offer is a 5x5 trifold.  I've heard from recipients of this card who told me that it was the nicest grad card they have ever seen and I know of many who held on to theirs for YEARS because they couldn't bear to trash something so nice.

The 5x5 trifold also comes with three free upgrades: pearl or linen paper, premium envelopes in multiple colors, and custom address labels that match the cards.

Q:  We already ordered formal invitations from the school and we would really like to use them, is there another way we can use the custom ones?

A:  Absolutely!  I can design a small flat card that slips into the school's envelope and put a small collage of images that can be kept as a keepsake, or we can design it into a party invitation.  This is great for inviting only those people you want to come.

Q:  What do you mean by "custom?"

A:  Since I am doing all of the design work by hand, I can change ANYTHING you want.  A different background?  Yep.  A different font?  Mmm-hmmm.  Bigger letting?  More pictures?  My school's colors?  Yes, yes and YES.  I've even had kids bring me their schools logo (have to get the school's approval for that though).

Q:  When is the best time to place our order?

A:  It's best to plan ahead by doing your session in the fall and making the card style decisions at your order appointment.  However, I don't order the grad cards until spring because many of my seniors like to put their college plans on the card, and they don't know where that will be until closer to the end of the year.

Q:  We are doing a Lite session, are grad cards available?

A:  You bet!  I have several options.  I have a shopping cart on my website where you can design your card online, whether you purchased the digital files or not.  Most of my Lite session clients do purchase their digital files, so they have the ability to get their cards printed at the lab of their choice.  I am completely OK with that and I can even point you in the direction of some good places to check out.  Finally, there are those that still want to get the cards from me (mine are 100% custom, and I think they dig that), so all you would need to do is stop by the studio for a quick design appointment and I'll take care of all the rest.

Q:  Do we have to come to the studio to pick them up?

A:  Nope!  I will have them shipped to you from the lab so that you get them as quickly as possible.
